Just a little thought experiment to all the power builders out there. So ignoring character build rules and decide to put 18 in every stat when building a character, what class would be the most busted at level 1 and then what class/subclass would be ultra busted at level 20. Also include what race each character be level one and twenty characters would be.

All of them, But epically any M.A.D* class like Paladin.

    • All Classes benefit from an 18 in Constitution, the more Hit Points the better, casters also need it for concentration spells.
    • All Classes can Benefit from an 18 in Dexterity as that provides a bonus to AC when unarmored or in light Armor, it is also one of the most common Saving throws in the game, also makes for a better initiative.
    • All Players can benefit from Strength = Carry weight and most melee weapons.
    • All Players can benefit from Wisdom = Lots of saving throws, and important skills.
    • All Players can benefit from Charisma = Social interactions, lots of skills.
    • Many players can benefit from a High Intelligence - History, Religion, and basic setting knowledge (You can make a DM info dump in some cases), also though not as common the Int saves can be the most important.

So now lets look at classes (In Alphabetical order, only official)

    • Barbarian = Main Stats Strength and Constitution, Secondary Stats Dexterity and Wisdom. Gaining the RP of Charisma and Intelligence just makes the character better. | Score 4/6|
    • Bard* = Main Stats Charisma, Dexterity, and Constitution, Secondary stats all (Jack of All trades means you gain all skills, so all high stats benefit a Bard greatly) | Score 4.5/6|
    • Cleric = Main Stats Wisdom, Constitution, and Strength, Secondary Intelligence (Thanks to Religion being a Int Skill) once again benefits from high stats all around. |Score 4/6|
    • Druid* = Main Stats Wisdom, Constitution, and depending on subclass Dexterity (Wild shape Druids can drop dex, others need it) although a MAD class, the shapeshifting druids can focus on mind stats thanks to taking physical stats from the wildshape. So this class would benefit the least from all 18s.|Score 3/6|
    • Fighter *= Main Stats Strength or Dexterity, Constitution, and Intelligence, Secondary Stats All. Sure the basic Fighter is basic, but you can build really amazing Characters with high stats as a fighter, besides Bard it stands to gain almost as much.|Score 4/6|
    • Monk* = Main Stats Strength, Dexterity, Wisdom, and Constitution, Secondary Stats all as they can benefit from the RP of them. Monk is one of the hardest classes to balance out your stats, as they really require all four main stats, more so than any other MAD class.|Score 4/6|
    • Paladin* = Main Stats Strength, Constitution, and Charisma, Secondary Stats all for RP. Although honestly while being the most famous MAD class for being MAD, it often benefits from a level dip in Hexblade, but with all3 main stats at 18 your Paladin will be OP, gaining Dex saving throws and initiative order helps a ton, plus you can be a smart and wise Paladin something unheard of in D&D.|Score 3/6|
    • Ranger* = Main Stats Dexterity and/or Strength, Wisdom, and Constitution, Secondary all like Bard Rangers are a Skill based class, high int, and char make it easier to RP and gather knowledge something a Ranger can utilize better than most, but usually can't due to low Int or Chr scores.|Score 4/6|
    • Rogue = Main Stats Dexterity and Constitution, Secondary Stats Intelligence, and all, the Original Skill class Rogues more than any other class can abuse high score for skills. While technically not a MAD class as you can do most rogue things on Dex, a rogue benefits from high scores in skills.|Score 3/6|
    • Sorcerer = Main Stats Charisma and Constitution, Secondary none, Ironically a Sorcerer can't really exploit high stats outside of Chr and Con, the high scores will help with saving throws and maybe RP but Sorcerers don't get all that many Skills to play with.|Score 2/6|
    • Warlock = Main Stats Charisma andConstitution, Secondary Dexterity if Hexblade, Warlocks like Sorcerers don't get a lot of extra Skills, but they do have a Melee Subclass so having high dex with a melee build helps, and ironically Warlocks do make for Great Party Face characters so they can benefit from a high Wisdom and Intelligence.|Score 3/6|
    • Wizard = Main Stat Intelligence and Constitution, Secondary Dexterity and Strength, For a Wizard everything but Intelligence is a Dump stat, well ok they need Con for concentration, and they have a melee subclass that benefits from melee stats, but generally if your Int is max, and con is high you are good. But due to the nature of the Melee subclass, and because a Wizard can benefit from the saves on their other stats, your wizard would be unstoppable. There are reasons why Wizards don't wear armor or have good saves, otherwise they would become an unstoppable force.|Score 4/6|

So in my opinion Bard wins thanks to Jack of All Trades.

    *M.A.D M=Multiple A=Ability score D=Dependent.

I'd say monks and barbarians get the most 1:1 bang for the buck out of it. Then I guess maybe bards? I dunno. Because getting max in the primary stat is the go-to strategy for every class (well - sorta), so I guess it's more about what do you get from everything else.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever stateopinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you whatI think, that's all.
