"Try this seasoning instead of using the packets of taco seasoning. Makes a great gift too! This not only saves you money it tastes better too! You control the amounts- feel free to adjust to fit your taste. If you like it hotter you can add some cayenne or up the chili powder! Enjoy!"

  1. My son asked for tacos for dinner but I hesitated, as I am trying to cut out foods that contain MSG because they trigger my DH's migraines and dry seasoning mixes are notorious for that additive. I was so happy to find this recipe...it was easy, is economical and tasted as good as or better than store bought. I made a big batch and look forward to using it over and over. Thanks sooo much for posting!

  2. I thought this would be good, but I didn't know it would be THIS GOOD! I used it with a package of extra lean ground turkey and it's got so much FLAVOUR! Thanks for a classic keeper. (I also don't buy commercial taco seasoning because of the MSG content.)

  3. We thought this was tasty. The 7 tsp. was the right amount for 1lb of beef. I was looking for a little more spice so I will probably add some more cayenne and maybe a bit more salt. Thank you, I always prefer to make my own rather than buy at the store when I can!

  4. This was a good, classic taco seasoning. I like the flavour and use it almost as an all-purpose seasoning (I love adding it to a Vegetable mixed rice)

  5. Really good! My new standard taco seasoning. I use Penzey's spices and believe that makes a big difference. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

  1. After trying this once, I'll never go back to storebought! Tastes so much better, and is much healthier. If you make this size batch, you'll have plenty on hand for whenever you need it. I omitted the salt for our tastes and added a half tablespoon of chipotle powder instead of the cayenne. This is the perfect taco seasoning mix!

  2. just right...tho if you boo-boo as my daughter did and use garlic salt instead of garlic powder...it is way too salty...fixed it by doubling other ingredients and leaving out the salt...have made a few batches now and plan to never buy prepkg'd again...tfs

  3. Good stuff. I ran out of a store brand and needed a recipe with just a few ingredients quickly. I subbed a teaspoon of dried chipotle pepper I had for the cayenne. Added a nice smokey bite to the mix. Thanks

  4. Fantastic seasoning! I was getting really frustrated with the packaged varieties because they are just too salty. This was perfect. The only thing I did to change it was to substitute the cayenne for 1 tsp of red pepper flakes because I like my burritos to be mild. Great recipe!

  5. The best tacos I've ever eaten. I didn't have any cayenne pepper on hand (my hubby isn't a fan of spicy anyway, but I am) so I added just a dash of crushed red pepper flakes instead. And I only used 1/4 tps salt and it was just perfect. Thanks.
