Flourless Air Fryer Chicken Tenders. A healthy taste sensation that is Whole30, Paleo and gluten free friendly.

Perfect for a healthy snack and once you try these Air Fryer Chicken Tenders you will want them time and time again.

Serve these Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with some homemade mayonnaise and you will have one of the best ever air fryer chicken recipes.

Whether you call them Air Fryer chicken tenders, air fryer chicken strips or even air fryer chicken dippers, they are just food heaven to us in the Milner household.

We love our Air Fryer chicken tenders when they are coated in our gluten free coating, cooked until delicious and tender and then served with some flavoured mayonnaise.

We will often have a production line happening to make it easier to make Air Fryer chicken tenders.

One large bowl will have the fake flour, another will have the wet egg mixture and then the final bowl will have the fake breadcrumbs.

Then it is easy to place the sliced chicken in one bowl after another. Then into the Air Fryer for cooking.

Then while it is cooking we will make a quick mayonnaise and then serve it on takeaway wrappers and then we will forget that we made it ourselves and that it is much healthier than takeout.

Air Fryer Chicken Tenders

When we make our Air Fryer Chicken Tenders we always feel like we have made a LOT more than what we wanted. We also end up super full and wish that we had cooked less of them.

We find that the reason for this is that because of the size of the coating that they become much bigger and due to all the protein going on in our chicken tenders, that it fills us up a lot more than what we expected.

We will do one big batch that will fill up our Philips XL Air Fryer and then often have many more ready in the fridge for cooking the next day.

Instructions

  • Start by creating your production line. In one bowl mix together, egg and half of the lemon juice with the garlic puree and set aside.

  • In the blender add ½ of the gluten free oats until it resembles fine oats.

  • Place the blended oats in one bowl and then the non-blended oats in the other. Mix them up so that you take 25% of the blended oats into the non-blended and vice versa. This then means that you have 2 bowls one with majority blended and the other with majority unblended. The blended is now your fake flour and the unblended is your fake breadcrumbs.

  • Season the fake flour bowl with salt, pepper, mustard and parsley.

  • Season the fake breadcrumbs with salt, pepper and basil.

  • Slice up the chicken breast into medium sized tender shapes.

  • Place the chicken tenders into the flour bowl, then drench it in the egg mixture, then heavily coat it in the breadcrumbs mixture.

  • Then gently place it in the Air Fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes at 175c/350f.

  • While they are cooking make your mayonnaise. Mix some regular mayonnaise with the last of the lemon, salt, pepper and a little mustard powder and mix well.

  • 10.Serve.

Notes

We prefer to use mayonnaise we have in and then add to the flavour. But you can use whatever you like. Its always best to line the bowls in order then it is easy to remember the correct order and speeds up the process of coating your chicken tenders.

When making Air Fryer chicken tenders, don’t be scared to coat your chicken fully and if its not sticking enough, then use your hands to pat on extra. Any excess will then fall off during the cooking process and give you a good all-round coating.

We use gluten free oats, but if you want a bread free and flour free option any gluten free flours are fine. If you wanted to add more wet ingredients to your chicken, then add it to the egg and give it a good mix. A favourite of mine is adding lime or some butter milk.

Air Fryer Chicken Tenders No Breading

It feels like a while since I have been here with a flourless recipe on the blog. It has never been intentional, I just sometimes forget to get the gluten free oats out. Though I don’t know why because gluten free oats are amazing as a bread alternative.

You can simply blend some gluten free oats, mix them together with some non-blended ones and you have an amazing alternative to breadcrumbs.

Though do make sure you mix your blended gluten free oats with non-blended ones. Otherwise you will end up with something that looks like dust from when you are sanding wood.

Lightly mist the tops of the tenders with cooking spray. Cook in the preheated air fryer for 8 minutes. Flip chicken over and lightly mist the tops with more cooking spray.

Why is my chicken tenders soggy from the air fryer? ›

Soggy chicken tenders may be the result of overcrowding the air fryer basket or cooking at too low of a temperature. To avoid soggy tenders, ensure there is enough space between them for air circulation and cook at the recommended temperature of 190°C (375°F).

How long to cook frozen chicken strips in an air fryer? ›

Set the air fryer temperature to 380 degrees F (180 degrees C). Place frozen chicken strips in the air fryer basket, without touching or overcrowding. Cook until crispy, 11 to 12 minutes. The color will not change much.

How do you're crisp chicken tenders in an air fryer? ›

Chicken tenders are a great snack or meal option, but they can be tough to reheat without drying them out. To reheat chicken tenders in an air fryer, preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Place the chicken tenders in the basket and cook for 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway through.

What temperature do you air fry chicken at? ›

After testing a variety of temperatures, I found that 375 degrees F is the best temperature for air frying chicken. Because the air fryer uses convection heat, you do not need to set it as high as you would an oven (in a regular oven, 425 degrees F is best for baking chicken, like Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast).

Should I put oil on chicken before air frying? ›

First, there is a health benefit to air frying over deep frying or pan frying. While I do recommend very lightly spraying the fried chicken with oil before and during air frying, you don't submerge the pieces entirely in oil, and as a result, they undoubtedly absorb less oil in the process.

Can you put raw chicken in an air fryer? ›

You can cook chicken tenderloins in the air fryer very easily by seasoning them with olive oil and herbs of your choice and then directly putting them in the air fryer preheated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Let them cook for 20 minutes, flipping over halfway through.

Can you air fry real good chicken tenders? ›

Try our NEW low carb Chicken Strips or Nuggets in the air fryer instead of the microwave or oven. Air fry 10 Frozen Chicken Nuggets at 330 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, or 4-6 Frozen Chicken Strips for 8-12 minutes at 330 degrees F, or until the internal temperature hits 165*.

Do you need to preheat an air fryer? ›

A recipe says to preheat: If you're using a trusted recipe and it instructs you to preheat your air fryer, do it. You are more likely to achieve the recipe's desired outcome if you follow the instructions exactly. Crispy foods: If you're hoping for super crispy results, you generally want to preheat the air fryer.

Why is my fried chicken tenders not crispy? ›

If your oil temp is too high, your fried chicken will be scorched on the outside with meat that is undercooked. If the oil is too cool, your chicken will be greasy and will lack the golden-brown crispy exterior you want.

How do you keep chicken tenders crispy? ›

The best way to keep fried foods crispy? Just place them on a cooling rack set over a baking sheet. If you're frying multiple batches, throw the whole setup into a low oven to keep everything warm as you keep frying and adding to the rack.

Why is my air fryer not making my chicken crispy? ›

Dry the outside of the food properly before you add oil. Do not use too much oil, as this will make the food less crispy and more fattening. Meat or poultry can be lightly brushed with oil or marinated to get the crispiest results.
