Football Shaped Food for the Super Bowl | Ain't Too Proud To Meg (1)

Is it even a Super Bowl party if there are no football shaped snacks? Whether you’re hosting or going to a friends for the Big Game, you can’t have a super bowl party without tasty snacks! This football shaped cheese ball is super easy to make and makes any cheese board a touchdown. You’ll see that my recipe includes all the goodies that taste delicious with this creamy, cheesy app, but feel free to tailor it to match your team’s colors! You could even make one side of the board your team’s colors and the other side your opponent’s–no matter what, there’s no way to fumble it.

For the Board

My approach is to fill each side with the colors of the opposing teams. I made this one for a game last year that had teams with similar colors. Check out my Football Dessert Board or another example of opposing colors that are more distinct.

Below is a list of items I used for the red, black and white colors, but feel free to get creative with your choices!

  • Football Cheese Ball (see above)
  • Pretzels
  • Blackberries
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Brie bites
  • Babybel cheese
  • Caprese Skewers
  • Dip
  • Bell Peppers
  • Salami

Directions

  • In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to combine cream cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, olives, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  • Using your hands, shape the cream cheese mixture into a football-shaped oval. Transfer to the center of a plate and cover in a single layer of pepperoni.
  • Top with provolone pieces in the shape of football laces. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
  • Remove from fridge 30 minutes before serving and place plate in the center of a large board. Add crackers around the cheese ball.
  • Add blackberries and dip to small bowls and place on opposite corners of the board. Fan the peppers out around the dip and fan the Babybel around the berries. Add the caprese skewers and strawberries to the empty corners, then fill in the rest of the board with salami, raspberries, pretzels, and brie bites, being sure to separate like colors.

Dip Ideas

For an alternative to building a football shaped cheese ball, you could easily use your favorite store-bought dip or try making one of these. To evoke a similar football look on your board, you can put it in an oval-shaped dish and top with mini salami and provolone laces.

  • Buffalo Chicken Dip
  • Whipped Feta Dip
  • Blue Cheese Dip
  • Beer Cheese Dip
  • Yogurt Dip
  • Whipped Burrata Dip
